Community Resources

As a resettlement agency, our primary focus at Refugee Empowerment Center is a new arrival’s first 90 days in the United States.  We realize that resettled refugees, as well as other immigrants, have questions and navigation needs that extend beyond those first few months in a new country.  Luckily we are part of a collaborative community of service providers!

This is a comprehensive list of organizations who specialize in supporting New Nebraskans in Omaha.  If you work for an organization that would like to be included on this list (or if you are already included and would like to update your information), please do so HERE.

Refugee status is typically eligible for most social service and/or financial assistance programs in the United States (akin to ‘Legal Permanent Resident’ status).  Due to language and cultural barriers, sometimes it is difficult for resettled refugees to access general services despite being legally eligible.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to specialized services elsewhere if/when needed.  You can often request an interpreter to help ease the process.
