New American Dish
Food Inspired by Omaha’s Newest Neighbors from Across the Globe
New American Dish is an exciting exchange of food and culture. From September 8th-14th two local restaurants, Block 16 and Kitchen Table, will feature signature dishes created in collaboration with a New American woman that highlights the restaurant’s unique concept and the flavors of the woman’s home country. Five percent of all the week’s profits benefit the New American Women’s Alliance.
Omaha is home to a vibrant restaurant scene with many popular establishments serving “New American” cuisine. Meanwhile, Nebraska has welcomed approximately 35,000 refugees or New Americans as residents to date. We see a wonderful opportunity to broaden our idea of “American” cuisine into a more inclusive and accurate representation of all who call the United States home.
